There are few things more heartwarming in life than to be welcomed by a cat. Dogs (or goggies to the cheezfriends) are PROGRAMMED it seems to follow certain responses.... I doubt anyone would find it astounding to find their dog greeting them at the door every day. My cats have not figured out that they are supposed to disregard me and treat me like their personal treat servant.....yet. Every day as I arrive home they are right there at the door welcoming me, as if they didn't spend the day chewing up the whole roll of toilet paper (and throwing it up on the floor), knocking over plants and sleeping. It is without question one of my favorite times of day. If only I could teach them to run the vacuum.
"If at first you do succeed, try something new" It is so easy to work at the things we already know how to do well. What I find difficult is sticking my neck out and trying something that I am not good at. I always make New Year's resolutions....and like most people I suppose....I break them. This year I decided to just start with something small, something that bothered me but wasn't too important and see if the new accomplishment would change me in any way. I love doing puzzles, I know what day Barnes & Noble put
out the new issues (sick, I know!) as soon as I buy a new book I go home and work on them. I have never been good at logic puzzles, maybe it is my blondness :D) This year I bought a Logic Puzzle book each month and just worked on that one kind of puzzle. At first I couldn't really do any of them without reading the explanation in the back-- and after a few months of dedication -- I can now work them up to the really hard ones....haven't mastered those yet! What I learned about myself is that I have the capability to learn whatever it is I want to know......so my flaw must lie in not WANTING to know enough. That's something I can work on.
"Life's a dance....be careful or you will get your toes stepped on." This is my first ground rule for life. I probably have a million of them but this one sticks in my head (maybe just for today). On my way to work this morning a car went flying past me like he was about to win the Brickyard 400, I wondered if he would be kissing the bricks soon. I didn't have to wait long to find out....as I passed him a few minutes later (at my sedate, safe speed of course :) ) He was busy showing his license and registration to the motorcycle cop. Sometimes you DO get what you deserve. More often than not it seems like the turtles really DON'T win the race. It's the smart aleck rabbits that reach the finish line first, feeling rested and justified in their arrogance.
You could always get them a really expensive cat toy that you'd appreciate, too. Hehe. read more
